No Regrets

"If only. Those must be the two saddest words in the world" (Mercedes Lackey)

Wikipedia describes the term 'Regret' as a negative conscious and emotional reaction to personal past acts and behaviours. According to that definition, regret has the ability to cause an internal negative emotional reaction, which is capable of restricting or limiting future activity. Do you recall ever using these words 'What if I had done it', 'I wish I attempted'. The most common phrase:-

If only I had told him that I loved him!
If only I had tried harder to make my relationship work!
If only I had worked just a little bit harder at work!
If only I attempted to pursue my goals!
Stop looking back and thinking 'Only if' Get on with it!

I have come to realise that there is greater emotional pain associated with regret, than actually carrying out the task. Zachary Scott, the famous American actor once noted in his later years, that "as we grow older, you'll find the only things you regret are the things you didn’t do". Go and live a life of no regrets from today.

I read an interesting article by Dutch Tech Company TNW called "The top 5 regrets people have on their death-bed". Let us make sure we do not end up been part of the statistic saying these things below.

a)  I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.
b)  I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings.
c) I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends
d) I wish that I had let myself be happier

If you try and you fail, at least you have learnt a lesson and you are able to try again, however, your inability to attempt the task will leave you saying 'I wish'

Take opportunities when they arise...Make an attempt today. Do not let regret cripple you.

Remember this as you go about your week. We must all suffer from one of two pains: the pains of discipline or the pain of regret. The difference is discipline weighs ounces while regret weighs tons. Jim Rohn

Have a brilliant week

What is your priority?

There is nothing wrong with being the best at everything, however, once you become an expert at 'something' - you are on to a winner.

After trying my hand in many prospects, some proving successful, many proving disastrous, I have discovered that whatever you focus or dedicate your time and efforts to, tend to be the areas in which you see the most results. Discover your talents and develop them! Become the best today! Architect, Frank Lloyd Wright once quoted "I know the price of success: dedication, hard work, and an unremitting devotion to the things you want to see happen".

Get devoted NOW and see results NOW.

If you are good at sciences, work on developing your scientific ability and apply for a job with NASA

If many people have suggested you have a talent in public speaking - seek to develop that skills and become the best you can possibly be.

If you are great at solving problem, IT programming, setting up blind-date, these could be your talents, explore them and seek to be an expert.

As simple as it sounds, developing an identified skill into your craft will bring success beyond your dreams. In lay man terms, 'find your lane and stick with it!' Vince Lombardi, the famous America coach stated with regards to ' determination and focus' - "The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand".

Aristotle quoted “we are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit”

Find your talent, develop your habit and become excellent.

Find your lane today and stick with it!

Have a great day...

Passion, passion and passion

“…bada bababaah, I’m lovin’ it”

Passion, passion, and passion

I have heard repeatedly many successful people say this over and over again and since they are all singing from the same hymn sheet there must be truth in it. If you don’t really love what you do any rational human would eventually give up; correct?

They say “every tomorrow has two handles, handle of anxiety and handle of opportunity”; if you woke up today anxious and unmotivated to carry out your goals for the day then I think you have chosen the wrong handle to grab a hold off. The day in which you look forward or even better are so excited about what you are about to do will be the day when you realise that you are honestly fulfilling your passion.

“Your only as successful on the outside as you are in your in your own mind.” - Atkins 1985-

Just like the Samurai you should adopt their creed; "no hesitation, no doubt, no surprise, no fear", it is brilliant in its simplicity. It is the perfect strategy for getting things done and discovering your passion, and in this day and age getting things done is the first hurdle that many people do not even reach. Lets be honest getting things done 10%, 50%, 80% or even 100% is definitely not good enough simply because the successful person ‘in front’ of you has already given 100%, so to win you have to give more; much more!

Repeat these questions, the first answers, your first thoughts about them are usually the most honest ones, and if they are not what you want to hear then you should do something about it!!!

Why would you second-guess yourself, hesitate to take deliberate action on a goal you have set yourself?

Do you find it hard to rebuke the seeds of doubt that are being planted in the fertile soil of your mind?

How is possible that you are shocked to this degree, are you not focused, why is there surprise did you not factor this into your plans?

Do you agree with the acronym False-Evidence-Appearing-Real (FEAR)?

At least if you are on the right path to doing what you are really passionate about then you should have no problem justifying these questions to yourself. If you are completely out of sync with these questions and they are resonating with you in a manner that it is making you feel uncomfortable and anxious then I suggest its time you grab hold of the other handle whilst its still there and move in a direction that is towards your real passion; your purpose in life before you get left behind.

Lets find what out what you really want to do this week decide and take action!

Have a brilliant week...

Ideas are a disease!!!

The Idea disease….

Good morning all, the weather in London today is 4°C highs of 17°C, dry with scattered clouds and sunny throughout the day. Pollen count is low, wind speed of 2mph north with very good visibility, so be sure to leave the umbrellas at home but pop the sunglasses in bag for later…

Someone once said that “once it has taken hold of the brain its almost impossible to eradicate”…What could I possibly be talking about?

It is infectious, it is can be time consuming, distracting, it can even deplete your energy to the point of no return; nevertheless we all need one to be successful.

I was speaking to a friend recently who had fallen whim to the idea disease; they were infected with this virus so deeply it had almost broken them as a human. They were not seeing the fruits of their labour, so instead the idea disease began to affect them in the way it usually does when it is not treated with dedication, belief and persistence.

Sun Tzu says, 'Strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory. Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat'.

There is almost a fine line with this particular conundrum, just like a world star chef at his best the cuisine has to be just right, just like a surgeon the procedure has to so precise and just like F1 driver a small degree of inaccuracy and focus can be cataclysmic. You must not let this disease defeat you!!!!

YOU MUST KEEP MOVING FORWARD WITH YOUR IDEAS - “Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.” Einstein
It is extremely easy to attain knowledge in this day and age, there are so many mediums one could undertake to expand their mind, yet it takes that much more from an individual to create ideas that if not to change the world then to change their own – TR Woode

Remember your attitude is crucial to your success and existence; in fact IT IS a matter of life and death, we live to be happy, so why not be happy with the right attitude towards your idea.

Finally, successful IDEAS are simple case of trial and error, no one is 100% sure that theirs will work; but they have the belief and the endurance, you will not converge towards success unless you do, learn and refine. It takes ONE just one, the one you have now could be the one or maybe it’s the next one nevertheless keep the ideas flowing; you must….

Have a wonderful week

Back up plan? What the heck is that?

"The question isn't who is going to let me; it's who is going to stop me." —Ayn Rand

'When you want to succeed as bad you want to breath, then you will be successful' - Sounds a little bit exaggerated, right? However, I think he was definitely onto something here. To simplify - When your desire to accomplish or attain success becomes your main priority - then you are nearly there. You must embody your dream! You must become your dream, live, breath, in fact, become near intoxicated with the idea of attaining your dream to the degree of obsession, where nothing else matters. Get obsessed + Get motivation = equals success

Let me try and say this as simply as possible - Back up plan? What the heck is that?

A back up plan indicates that if option 1 fails, them you have a cushion to fall back on! With no back up plan and the anxieties of failure, guess what happens...you push your mind, body and motivation to levels that you would never have achieved if knew you have options. Follow me!

Get focused and attack your goal with all your might.

Any successful person will let you into the secret of their success. Hard work and sweat! Just push till you break through. As Franklin Roosevelt quoted "when you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on". Do not be swayed! Do not change direction! Stay focused. Bernadette Devlin, the youngest woman elected to Parliament stated "Yesterday, I dared to struggle. Today, I dare to win". Her struggles could have dissuaded her from her desires, however, she was consistent and obsessed with achieving her goals that she was motivated to succeed. You too can do it.

It just required the readiness to work hard and consistency to achieve your dream, your big dreams.

Success will never just fall into your lap, you must stay on track and master your skill and trade, Colin Powell suggests that " A dream doesn't become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work". Go work hard. Increase your efforts by an additional 10%.

Steve Garvey noted that you must be "...passionate, you must dedicate yourself, and you must be relentless in the pursuit of your goals. If you do, you will be successful".

Dictionary is the only place that success comes before work. Hard work is the price we must pay for success. I think you can accomplish anything if you're willing to pay the price. (Vince Lombardi)

Creating your ‘self-niche’

Bertrand Russell once said, “The problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts”.

In hindsight you could be thinking the words spoken by Mark Twain; “In 20 years, you will be more disappointed in what you didn’t do than by what you did do”….don’t allow this to be the case.

The way in which today’s societies have evolved over the last 50 years has been amazing to monitor. It is almost as if ideas, beliefs, cultures and even peoples ways of life has spun 180 degrees; it is better to not conform when creating new ideas in order to change the world, it is almost ‘crazy’ to have traditional beliefs in certain respects, you are absolutely ‘nuts’ if you fail to try and experience new cultures and its almost the best practice not to conform to the ‘rules and regulations’ of modern societies.

In essence you have to create and rebrand yourself effectively as a niche ‘product’ obviously relative to your goals, nevertheless there is a problem; if everyone else has identified this to be the case then how do you still differentiate yourself from the clutches of saturation? The answer is simple, and it is the way in which I interpret an old Zen proverb, “before enlightenment chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment chop wood, carry water”. To me, once you have become a success in your mind and when ready to apply your force in ‘real-time‘ you have to be assiduous at every conjunction. It is the only way!

I have never come across any short cuts that work without creating new issues…. to do things right you just have to DO THEM. On the periphery of my vision I recall reading wise words that uttered, “if you want your dreams to come true the first thing you have to do is WAKE UP!”SO WAKE UP!!!, realise that we live in a generation of very talented individuals. The person sitting next to you on the train right now could hold the answer to the world next medical break through of some sort, the person who you went to school with may currently be working on the worlds next conglomerate, the guy who you used to date will achieve that accolade he dreamt of, the girl next door will be the world next superstar entertainer….the list is endless. It is these endless feats that should spark a chain reaction in your internal mind system to succumb to the fact that competition is fierce and to win you have to evolve faster than the person in second place, and at worst if you strive for this pole position, you will most definitely finish runner up ahead of billions of others which is not bad – we cant win them all can we; OR CAN WE!

Make yourself different this week stand up and stand out!
