Goals, Goals, Goals -

A few weeks ago we spoke about 2011 being an audacious years, filled with great manifestations, derived from your [audacious] goals. I am confident that many of us have heard and studied the ideologies and power behind goal setting. Yet I believe it is imperative that you hear it again, understand it and apply the concept to your everyday living.

A goal is synonymous  with objectives - a planned projection or intention. In saying this, many of us, have and do set ourselves goals, however, numerous authors and scholars have suggested
'a goal [objectives] that stays in your minds is merely just a dream', therefore implying its intangibility [Incapable of being realized or defined].

Conceptualisation - putting your goal into perspective is key to the process of attainment.

A good friend, Davies (1984) suggested that
'tabulating your goals and vision, releases immense unrealised power' - he implies that goals should be clear and concise, thus enabling you to focus and attack [purse]. Atkins quoted 'A goal should be written as concise as a battle plan'. This provides clarity and strategy. Sun Tzu, author of The Art of War, quoted 'Strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory. Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat'. It is of utmost importance that you strategise and structure your goals.

Gone are the days of merely listing down your goals or just having them tucked away into frontal lobe (the left cerebral hemisphere) [enables us to recognize future consequences resulting from current actions] . You MUST begin TODAY to 'consciously map out the steps/plans/strategy you will take towards achieving your dream. (Davies, 1984).

Many authors talk about goal setting, yet they fail give us the reasons as to why 'Goal Setting' it is vital [context enables greater understanding].

There is immense power in taking your goals from your head and transferring it to paper. The process forces your mind to stretch and encourages a vital process called
visualisation [If you search through my previous messages or blog you will find the topic 'visualisation'].

The transition from your mind to paper draws on vital feelings and emotions, that will encourage you to endeavour.
It forces you to clearly define what your goals are. It encourages clarity.

A process many authors, such as Brian Tracy recommend is
mind-mapping. Mind mapping (similar to a spider diagram) allows you to list, break down and develop your goals further. Furthermore, it is an excellent creative tool, that encourages creativity, brainstorming and develops your learnability.

An interesting article, I read some time ago, stated that, only 2% of Americans wrote down their goals. [Just a thought -
I wonder why only such a small percentage achieve their life long goals - Food for thought!]

Davies (1984) suggested that goals should be 'broken down into months and quarters to give the impression of deadlines'. Therefore, ensuring short-term goals are linked to your medium and long terms goals.

As an early christmas gift, Davies (1984) has sent us all a useful
DreamTracker tool, that will enable us to keep our goals and aspiration alive and active in our minds. [Including in the attachment] - Please print and put it somewhere you can look at it as a reminder everyday/week/month so your goals remain Visual  and Conscious at all times.

You should start by filling in your goal at the bottom first and then mapping your steps afterwards.

Every month you should to fill in Yes/No as you go along, at the end of the year you should fill in the 'Next Year' box and carry over the dream & advice to get even closer to achieving it.
Hope you enjoying experimenting with the
DreamTracker and developing your goals further. Davies (1984)

Have a brilliant week.

Attitude

Happy morning people,

They say attitude is everything. The great William James once said "the greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind".

It is extremely important from last weeks discussion to remember that there is nothing wrong with dreaming big in fact "the bigger and more often you dream the more likely you will wake to paradise" Atkins 1985
It’s very understandable that you may cruise along a path infested with hurdles; nevertheless hurdles can be overcome with the right attitude in place. I can’t stress enough how important and fundamental this attribute is. It takes effort to mould your character, to always have the correct attitude, and it takes even more energy to refine that character to adapt the ‘right attitude’ in any given circumstance; that’s the skill of a ‘successful person’

Science dictates that "energy can neither be created nor destroyed: it can only be transformed from one state to another" therefore transmuting this and applying it to the attitude attribute, we can see that the right attitude you need to succeed already exists; its up to you to find which works for you and run with it.

Dr Joyce Brothers once said "success is a state of mind. If you want success, start thinking of yourself as a success"…. think about it; remember our discussion from a while back about emotions and how you can control them? YES YOU CAN!! And if worst comes to worst ACT AS IF! Act as if you are the greatest superstar, athlete, entrepreneur, business man/woman, whatever it is that you have your legacy set upon; by "acting as if", in a sense you transmute all the energy that already exists into you and slowly but surely your attitude will adapt to your state of mind.

Try to imagine right now that your attitude is a blank canvas, start afresh today right now, decide the attitude you want to have and portray along your journey to a better quality of life; you may be thinking this will never work but like Ralph Charell once said "nobody succeeds beyond his or her wildest expectations unless he or she begins with some wild expectations".

Remember "your attitude is crucial to your success and existence; in fact IT IS a matter of life and death, we live to be happy, so why not be happy with the right attitude" Bentley-Woode 1985

"YOUR ATTITUDE IS YOUR WINDOW TO THE WORLD" Jeff Keller.

Happy holidays

Dare to BE GREAT

It is your right to be what you wanna be!
COOOOMMEEE ON!

For this fight, I’ve wrestled with alligators,
I’ve tussled with a whale.
I done handcuffed lightning
And throw thunder in jail.
You know I’m bad.
just last week, I murdered a rock,
Injured a stone, Hospitalized a brick.
I’m so mean, I make medicine sick.
I’m so fast, man,
I can run through a hurricane and don't get wet.

The Audacity of dreaming BIG

Good Morning friends & family.

As 2011 gently approaches. Forget 2010! Say it and believe it - '2011 is going to be the best year I have had so far'.

I would like to personally congratulate you for taking 5 minutes out of your busy monday morning to read this message, clearly you are serious about entering 2011 prepared and unstoppable. Welcome!

In preparation for the new year - last month's newsletters have been geared towards empowering you with insights and principles that will accelerate you in 2011. A few weeks back we introduced the idea of preparation [as a catalyst to greatness] and last week we spoke about the [sacrifice] needed to win and excel in the forth coming year. This week, as I finalise my own personal goals and desires for 2011, the word 'Audacious' springs to mind.

Audacity, Temerity, Boldness, Courage - Powerful words right?

Donald Trump, one of the worlds must successful business magnates, suggested that "if you are going to think at all, you might as well think BIG'. He is credited for his bold and audacious business endeavours. He dreams BIG and ultimately achieves BIG [Approx: $2 billion dollars BIG]. Benjamin Disraeli quoted that 'Success is the child of audacity'

Quite frankly, I have set myself some daring goals for 2011 and truly it will require me to be extremely audacious. According to the Collins English Dictionary, Audacity is 'The willingness to take bold risks'. [TAKE (Requires an action) and BOLD (Requires courage) ]. Many people will suggest that your audacious goals are too ambitious and they may even imply that 'you have a wild imagination' or that you are just a dreamer, etc, WHO CARES? Ask yourself this question  "what is the point in setting yourself simplistic, unchallenging, uninspiring goals"
Atkins (1985) suggests that the '...journey to attainment is always the most exciting'. BIG endeavours, BIG rewards!

Your willingness, this year to set yourself some bold, daring, exciting and quite frankly, some audacious goals in 2011, will enable you to aim for the sky and achieve BIG.

Many interviews with successful men and women have shown that their ability to set themselves wild, audacious and huge goals, have contributed to them attaining their inner most desires. For example, Barack Obama in 2006 published 'The Audacity of Hope; Reclaiming the American Dream' he clearly understood the principles of the 'audacious' and dared to be 'bold'. He set his sights high and he excelled. Barack Obama was sworn in as the 44th President of the United State of America and he is first African American to hold that office.' That is the effect of having the 'Audacity to DREAM BIG'.

A wise man once told me ' People who set BIG goals rarely ever know how they are going to achieve them, but it starts with a burning desire and an unwavering faith that they can achieve it'. Be audacious! Set some wild goals this month. Wouldn't you rather aim for the stars and land on the moon or just stay in London?

I dare you this month - Set yourself audacious goals.

Karl Clausewitz notes "Never forget that no military leader has ever become great without audacity". As 2011 approaches visualise yourself going into battle.

It is the audacity to dream big that enables the BIG rewards.

Have a brilliant week
