What would you give?

There is this innate capacity for the machine that is life, to reciprocate whatever you put into it with equal greatness.

Sometimes I sit and wonder what I will become, and in the end it’s always the same outcome. It is exactly what I see when I shut my eyes at night, what is more remarkable, is even when my eyes are open, I still see the same vision; are you like me and do you see your dreams as reality???

Now you are probably asking yourself, “if I can see my dreams in front of my eyes, why haven’t they manifested into the real world” – all I can say is, ask yourself  “what am I prepared to give?”

Look at it like this, when you go shopping for something, you can view the product right in front of your eyes, you can ‘touch it’, ‘smell it’, ‘taste it’, ‘wear it’, whatever the action is, you have to give something in return. Similarly life is an exchange.

A young wise man once said to me the day when you love and give all to life like you’ll never see it again, that will be the day when life will find you and give you everything

We bury our heads in our hands and lap when the going gets tough, winners only do this to get close enough to speak to their heart, telling it to keep going. How can a person possibly expect so much when they give nothing in return? It’s so evident that many successful, powerful and respected individuals that have made a contribution to mankind have stood up and offered greatness in exchange for equal greatness…WHAT WILL YOU GIVE?

It was indeed Eric Thomas that uttered the wise words that “only when you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe, then will you be successful”

I for one admire the HEART of a true champion, for example:

J.K Rowling may be rolling in a lot of Harry Potter success today, but before she published the series of novels she was nearly penniless, severely depressed, divorced, trying to raise a child on her own while attending school and writing a novel. Rowling went from depending on welfare to SURVIVE to being one of the wealthiest women in the world in a span of only five years through her hard work and determination, she decided to give something back to life; her sacrifice transmuted into something positive for millions of people all around the world, so what did life do….IT GAVE IT BACK IN ABUNDANCE!!

J.K Rowling gave life words….
Henry Ford gave life a car….
Bill Gates gave life a computer….
Walt Disney gave life somewhere to play….
Jerry Sienfeld gave life laughter….
Oliver Stone gave life something to watch….
Michael Jackson gave life something to listen to….
Monet gave life something to look at….
Michael Jordan gave life a good match….

LIFE GAVE THEM ALL SOMETHING IN RETURN - WHAT ARE YOU PREPARED TO GIVE?

Have a giving week

Focus

Becoming a success at anything requires an immense amount of energy. The exertion of energy 'generally' transmutes to a deserved manifestation of your desires. Therefore, if one's success is inherently linked to his/her level of energy expended, it will explain why those who are successful, expend their energy accordingly and consistently.

"Do whatever you do intensely" Robert Henri

Have you ever heard the idiom "Jack of all trades, master of none" - In simply terms, the man who can do everything, cannot consistently do anything! Let us attempt to understand this further. In order to succeed at something [your goal] you must focus your attention solely on attaining this goal and not whimsically grappling at every opportunity that may present itself. Are you with me?

The prolific and influential composer, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart wisely quoted "The shorter way to do many things is to do only one thing at a time." Mozart exemplified his belief in the notion of 'energy placement', by consistently focussing his energy on becoming one of the most enduringly popular of classical composers till date. Focus! This is a magic in focussing, there is a power in concentration. Komar once implied "Concentration, in its truest, unadulterated form, means the ability to focus the mind on one single solitary thing."

Do you believe in your idea?
Do you believe you can attain the highest academic/professional grade?
Do you believe you can outperform your colleagues at work?
Do you believe you can make your relationship work?

a) What are you passionate about achieving? "Passion is energy. Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you" - Oprah Winfrey

b) What is your focus? "The results you achieve will be in direct proportion to the effort you apply" - Dennis Waitley

c) Where is you energy and effort channelled? "What do I mean by concentration? I mean focusing totally on the business at hand and commanding you body to do exactly what you want it to do" - Arnold Palmer

Your ability to focus, enables you to improve, master and eventually conquer your dreams.

An anonymous writer, suggested that "If you chase two rabbits, both will escape.” You success is linked to your ability to give effort to what which is required. If is it your exams, then focus and accomplish. If it is developing your business, then pursue it like your last breath depended on it. Martens (1954) stated, "There is perhaps no more valuable trait than the ability to become consumed with a single task". Wow! I believe this is in fact one of the hardest tasks. Many of us do not and will not focus our 100% effort one task as we instinctively fear it may fail and we may fall flat on our faces. However, according to the motto in which I live by and the British SAS "He who dares? Wins!".

Come on! Lets begin to win. Try it!

Reflection

10 years ago yesterday on September 11th 2001 around 3000 people vanished in a couple of hours, as you read on, pay respect by showing gratitude to the life you have been blessed with today!

We all know that without problems that test the limits of our abilities we cannot grow, it is a fundamental system of life that we CANNOT take for granted ANYMORE, FOR GOODNESS SAKE LET”S NEVER FORGET THIS!

We all know that nothing hits harder than life itself, EVERYONE HAS THEIR FAIR SHARE OF HITS, ITS ALL ABOUT HOW HARD YOU CAN GET HIT AND KEEP MOVING FORWARD! This force is different for everyone, different magnitudes and at different times.

You may be starting out on a new career path, educational, spiritual, or mental journey, you may be bringing a new life into this world or saying goodbye to one whatever your situation, take a moment out to reflect. Take that much needed time to assess your position in life, those problems you have brushed under your ‘fluffy’ carpet thinking its going to be comfortable under there, take it out and RESOLVE IT; only cowards refuse to grow, heroes circumvent their issues and become stronger.

It was president John F Kennedy that said “The courage of life is often a less dramatic spectacle than the courage of a final moment, but it is no less a magnificent mixture of triumph and tragedy. A man does what he must- in spite of personal consequences, in spite of obstacles and dangers and pressures-and that is the basis of all morality”

With this in mind ask yourself “can I count at least five people in my life with whom I would go and do what I do everyday if it brought success and happiness only to them?”

As you go about your business today I plead for you to keep your promises that you make. Your promises however big or small affect people more than you know and more importantly yourself when broken. You only have to look in history to discover and the courageous men and women who kept their promises to advance us to the world we live in today. Mankind has been faced with spiritual feats that’s changed the world forever, wars that shaped the very ground your walk on, science that has pushed our existence to a new plateau and COURAGE that has and still keeps us loving life.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE lets begin to reflect on ourselves for the future, begin to fix the issue TODAY, you don’t want to reflect 10-20years down the line when its too late. Call that friend/family member you need to order to solve the issue, go ahead and sign up to that charity you always promised to give to, smile at the person who smiled at you today on the train, reach a hand out and help the person in need.

FINALLY, GET A MIRROR, LOOK INTO IT AND REFLECT; BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF BECAUSE ONLY YOU KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO!

(Have a listen to this song and read this message again, I really want todays message to sink in

Have a memorable week

Reach

I sat here for a while trying to find a way to make this band sound really great, then I realised it was nearly impossible. S Club 7! Do you guys remember them, Bradley, Rachel, Tina and blah blah blah. Do you remember their song “Reach for the stars, climb every mountain higher, reach for the stars, follow you heart’s desire”.  How cringey! I can’t believe I actually bought that CD. Oh well.

Why don’t you begin today to reach for the stars! No more second place! Climb every mountain and opportunity higher.

The famous America football coach, Vince Lombardi once answered when asked about the attributes of a winner, he stated “All right Mister, let me tell you what winning means? you're willing to go longer, work harder, give more than anyone else."

Reaching for the stars means taking your efforts to a considerably higher level. Are you willing to do that to reach for the stars and attain your hearts desires?

Watching the recent Athletics: IAAF World championships opened my eyes to a new truth, Charles Schulz illustrates that truth by stating "Nobody remembers who came in second." – Let me ask you a question. In the world Junior Championships, where Usian Bolt distinguished as a force to be reckoned with – who won the silver medal?  I am confident you don’t remember. We never remember. [Just for your record, it was Brendan Christian representing Trinidad & Tobago].  Get in the habit of reaching for the stars today.

The incredible author Dale Carnegie of ‘How to win friends and influence people’ (I highly recommend this book) quoted - "The first man gets the oyster, the second man gets the shell."  - Get yourself in the habit of winning, take greater chance, work harder and sing the cheesy line from the S Club 7’s “Reach for the stars, climb every mountain higher”. [That is guaranteed to make you smile in the face of adversity.]

As society and our economy becomes extremely competitive – only those with the competitive streak and winning attitude will triumph. [Feel free to read up on Social Darwinism]

If you are going to do anything, you might as well aim to be the best at it – What is the point in striving for second place? You are greater than that.

"If you'll not settle for anything less than your best, you'll be amazed at what you can accomplish in your lives." Vince Lombardi

Reach for the stars this week
