Reach

I sat here for a while trying to find a way to make this band sound really great, then I realised it was nearly impossible. S Club 7! Do you guys remember them, Bradley, Rachel, Tina and blah blah blah. Do you remember their song “Reach for the stars, climb every mountain higher, reach for the stars, follow you heart’s desire”.  How cringey! I can’t believe I actually bought that CD. Oh well.

Why don’t you begin today to reach for the stars! No more second place! Climb every mountain and opportunity higher.

The famous America football coach, Vince Lombardi once answered when asked about the attributes of a winner, he stated “All right Mister, let me tell you what winning means? you're willing to go longer, work harder, give more than anyone else."

Reaching for the stars means taking your efforts to a considerably higher level. Are you willing to do that to reach for the stars and attain your hearts desires?

Watching the recent Athletics: IAAF World championships opened my eyes to a new truth, Charles Schulz illustrates that truth by stating "Nobody remembers who came in second." – Let me ask you a question. In the world Junior Championships, where Usian Bolt distinguished as a force to be reckoned with – who won the silver medal?  I am confident you don’t remember. We never remember. [Just for your record, it was Brendan Christian representing Trinidad & Tobago].  Get in the habit of reaching for the stars today.

The incredible author Dale Carnegie of ‘How to win friends and influence people’ (I highly recommend this book) quoted - "The first man gets the oyster, the second man gets the shell."  - Get yourself in the habit of winning, take greater chance, work harder and sing the cheesy line from the S Club 7’s “Reach for the stars, climb every mountain higher”. [That is guaranteed to make you smile in the face of adversity.]

As society and our economy becomes extremely competitive – only those with the competitive streak and winning attitude will triumph. [Feel free to read up on Social Darwinism]

If you are going to do anything, you might as well aim to be the best at it – What is the point in striving for second place? You are greater than that.

"If you'll not settle for anything less than your best, you'll be amazed at what you can accomplish in your lives." Vince Lombardi
