No Regrets

"If only. Those must be the two saddest words in the world" (Mercedes Lackey)

Wikipedia describes the term 'Regret' as a negative conscious and emotional reaction to personal past acts and behaviours. According to that definition, regret has the ability to cause an internal negative emotional reaction, which is capable of restricting or limiting future activity. Do you recall ever using these words 'What if I had done it', 'I wish I attempted'. The most common phrase:-

If only I had told him that I loved him!
If only I had tried harder to make my relationship work!
If only I had worked just a little bit harder at work!
If only I attempted to pursue my goals!
Stop looking back and thinking 'Only if' Get on with it!

I have come to realise that there is greater emotional pain associated with regret, than actually carrying out the task. Zachary Scott, the famous American actor once noted in his later years, that "as we grow older, you'll find the only things you regret are the things you didn’t do". Go and live a life of no regrets from today.

I read an interesting article by Dutch Tech Company TNW called "The top 5 regrets people have on their death-bed". Let us make sure we do not end up been part of the statistic saying these things below.

a)  I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.
b)  I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings.
c) I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends
d) I wish that I had let myself be happier

If you try and you fail, at least you have learnt a lesson and you are able to try again, however, your inability to attempt the task will leave you saying 'I wish'

Take opportunities when they arise...Make an attempt today. Do not let regret cripple you.

Remember this as you go about your week. We must all suffer from one of two pains: the pains of discipline or the pain of regret. The difference is discipline weighs ounces while regret weighs tons. Jim Rohn

Have a brilliant week

What is your priority?

There is nothing wrong with being the best at everything, however, once you become an expert at 'something' - you are on to a winner.

After trying my hand in many prospects, some proving successful, many proving disastrous, I have discovered that whatever you focus or dedicate your time and efforts to, tend to be the areas in which you see the most results. Discover your talents and develop them! Become the best today! Architect, Frank Lloyd Wright once quoted "I know the price of success: dedication, hard work, and an unremitting devotion to the things you want to see happen".

Get devoted NOW and see results NOW.

If you are good at sciences, work on developing your scientific ability and apply for a job with NASA

If many people have suggested you have a talent in public speaking - seek to develop that skills and become the best you can possibly be.

If you are great at solving problem, IT programming, setting up blind-date, these could be your talents, explore them and seek to be an expert.

As simple as it sounds, developing an identified skill into your craft will bring success beyond your dreams. In lay man terms, 'find your lane and stick with it!' Vince Lombardi, the famous America coach stated with regards to ' determination and focus' - "The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand".

Aristotle quoted “we are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit”

Find your talent, develop your habit and become excellent.

Find your lane today and stick with it!

Have a great day...

Passion, passion and passion

“…bada bababaah, I’m lovin’ it”

Passion, passion, and passion

I have heard repeatedly many successful people say this over and over again and since they are all singing from the same hymn sheet there must be truth in it. If you don’t really love what you do any rational human would eventually give up; correct?

They say “every tomorrow has two handles, handle of anxiety and handle of opportunity”; if you woke up today anxious and unmotivated to carry out your goals for the day then I think you have chosen the wrong handle to grab a hold off. The day in which you look forward or even better are so excited about what you are about to do will be the day when you realise that you are honestly fulfilling your passion.

“Your only as successful on the outside as you are in your in your own mind.” - Atkins 1985-

Just like the Samurai you should adopt their creed; "no hesitation, no doubt, no surprise, no fear", it is brilliant in its simplicity. It is the perfect strategy for getting things done and discovering your passion, and in this day and age getting things done is the first hurdle that many people do not even reach. Lets be honest getting things done 10%, 50%, 80% or even 100% is definitely not good enough simply because the successful person ‘in front’ of you has already given 100%, so to win you have to give more; much more!

Repeat these questions, the first answers, your first thoughts about them are usually the most honest ones, and if they are not what you want to hear then you should do something about it!!!

Why would you second-guess yourself, hesitate to take deliberate action on a goal you have set yourself?

Do you find it hard to rebuke the seeds of doubt that are being planted in the fertile soil of your mind?

How is possible that you are shocked to this degree, are you not focused, why is there surprise did you not factor this into your plans?

Do you agree with the acronym False-Evidence-Appearing-Real (FEAR)?

At least if you are on the right path to doing what you are really passionate about then you should have no problem justifying these questions to yourself. If you are completely out of sync with these questions and they are resonating with you in a manner that it is making you feel uncomfortable and anxious then I suggest its time you grab hold of the other handle whilst its still there and move in a direction that is towards your real passion; your purpose in life before you get left behind.

Lets find what out what you really want to do this week decide and take action!

Have a brilliant week...
